In addition to private sponsorship of refugee programs, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) also provides for Blended Visa Office-Referred (BVOR) Program, Other Visa Office-Referred (VOR) Program, Joint Assistance Sponsorship (JAS) program, Urgent Protection Program (UPP) to sponsor refugees and persons in refugee-like situations from outside Canada.

The Joint Assistance Sponsorship (JAS) program enables Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs) to partner with the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in the resettlement of Government-Assisted Refugees who are identified as having special needs.
The Urgent Protection Program (UPP) enables Canada to respond to requests by referral organizations, such as the UNHCR, to provide rapid resettlement for refugees in urgent need of protection.
