Super Visa and Extensions
Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada can invite their parents or grandparents to visit them for up to 5 years at a time through super visa applications. Super visa is a multiple-entry visa which provides multiple entries to parents and grandparents to visit their child and/or grandchild for a period of up to 10 years.
There are certain requirements which you must meet to get super visa to visit your child and/or grandchild in Canada, you must:
- have a child and/or grandchild in Canada who is a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada;
- have medical insurance with at least $100,000 coverage from a Canadian insurance company and your medical insurance must be valid for at least 1 year from the date of your entry into Canada;
There are certain other requirements which your child and/or grandchild must also meet to invite you to visit them in Canada, they must:
- provide you with a signed invitation letter including promise to provide financial support to you for the length of your visit, the list and number of people in the household of your child and/or grandchild and a copy of your child and/or grandchild’s Canadian Citizenship document or Permanent Resident document as applicable.
- prove that their household income meets the minimum necessary income as applicable.
